Wilbur Smith, a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, obtained his Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to becoming an Independent Associate (Business Owner) with Pre-Paid Legal Services, Wilbur Smith worked in the health care field as a CEO with prominent health care organizations like Columbia/HCA, Republic Healthcare, and Carolinas Health & Hospitals, Inc. He worked in the public and private sector and was a results-oriented self starter with highly developed administrative, organizational development, problem solving and performance improvement skills, including comprehensive management experience with JCAHO and HCFA requirements, clinical and fiscal responsibility, human resource management, strategic and budget planning, and accounts receivable management.
Wilbur Smith and his son Gary started DirectAccess in 1990 to provide electronic claims management and billing services for physicians and other medical providers in the Virgin Islands. The company continues to service the medical community and has added medical transcription, diagnoses coding and medical billing software training for physicians' offices.
