Automation Research Systems, Limited (ARS) was founded in 1982 by Albert R. Spaulding and is 100 percent minority owned and privately held. The firm was incorporated in 1983 under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 1985, ARS was certified to participate in the United States Small Business Administration's 8(a) Set-aside Program for small, disadvantaged businesses. In 1994, ARS emerged from the SBA 8(a) Program as a model for all growing companies; it was also re-certified as an SDB on September 15, 2000. ARS is corporately located in Alexandria VA., with a regional office in San Ramon, CA. and an operational presence in Honolulu, HI.
